Nepal is a 'Control map', meaning it consists of 3 different symmetrical points in 3 differently themed areas: Mountain Village, Shrine, and Sanctum.
The big challenge with these Control maps, are the themes that need to be different enough to give the players the sense of progression, while still rendering in a performant way. There's likely more variety of content in this game mode loaded at once, than other game modes, so we need to be crafty with reusage of props and texture memory.
I worked on props, a few architectural set pieces, interiors, set dressing, performance and polish. I also worked on the lighting, making sure the warmth of the interiors contrast with the cold exteriors, and played with contrast and values for player navigation / leading.
